How do I make sure DMA is on in Windows XP Pro?

I thought it was supposed to be somewhere in the device manager but there is no “advanced” tab and from searching I found it is supposed to be there.

I tried uninstalling every piece of CD burning software that someone suggested in another thread but it has not help.

When I check the drive in my BIOS it says PIO mode is 4 and DMA mode is 2. I don’t know if they are on in Windows though…

I also have a LiteOn CD Burner (see sig) and I cannot see anything about DMA in device manager either…

Thanks in advance.

In the device manager look under the “IDE ATA/Atapi controllers”

Once you are in there you should be able to find it.

Ahhhh, I was looking under the actual device.

Thanks I was unable to find this information anywhere!

So both my CD burner and DVD burner are using DMA Mode 2. From what I understand this is what they should be showing.

Yep, DMA mode 2 is correct.
