My laptop is 4-5 years old. How can I find out if it will handle DL discs?
Download and install ImgBurn. www.imgburn.com Start up the program and click on Discovery.
Look at the top of the window and click on Tools–>Drive–>Capabilities.
You will see two lists of different types of disks with little boxes next to them. One list is for writing, the other for reading. If your drive can burn DL media, it will have a check mark in the box next to the DL disks in the Write list.
A laptop burner should be relatively limited, especially in case of DL media.

Check your model make and serial number with the manufacture to see what the configuration was for that laptop. That’s one of the better way to know what is really inside your laptop besides using imgburn to see what type the cd/dvd drive is. It would be good if you told us as well the make and model of the laptop that would be a good first start to help figure your laptop out.
