Four years ago, San Diego’s DivX fell off the radar in the local tech scene when it was acquired in by Sonic Solutions for $323 million in stock and cash.
Now the once publicly traded company is trying to get its name out again.
A group of DivX managers teamed with two investment funds to buy the company from its parent for $75 million. That deal closed in April. Now DivX aims to re-establish itself as an independent technology provider in the Web video business – enabling high-quality streaming and over-the-top services.
