How much time does it take for a quality scan with CDSpeed to complete on a Benq 1620? I have read it’s really SLOW!!!

9 mins at 8x.

Where have you read its “really slow”?

In fact the 1620 is able to produce reliable scans quicker than most other brands can. ie at 8x compared to Liteons at 4x.

not as reliable as the liteon for pifs as the benq only uses 8ecc. and 8x is big comprimise for time reasons. Im still thinking 6x should be a more fair standard for speed vs. quality scan takes about the same as liteons.

Remember all that you really only need to scan once per media type (not every disk) unless you have issues with playback. For data dvds all you really need is a transfer rate scan and a surface scan for errors.

Thats debatable especially with Liteons lack of QC.

In an idea world where suppliers and manufacturers are consistant, that would be true. However in the real world where atleast ~80% of media sold has fake MID codes or is B/C/landfill grade overprinted to look like grade A then I’m afraid regular quality testing is a must.
