Disc drives handle damaged media better at higher rotation speeds?

It should be the opposite, but the lower speed data extraction brings several disadvantages:

Disadvantages for lower speeds:

  • DAE skipping for AudioCD (if no cdparanoia used).
  • Hiccups: Lens loses track at lower speeds (also CD-ROM).
  • Damage readability at lower speeds is actually worse in my tests.

However, there was less noise on damaged DAE CDDA at lower rotation speeds. However, the noise is better than skipping.
