I was wondering if anyone knew the difference between windows xp media center 2004 and 2005? I have dug and dug and I'll I can find is that 2005 may have a little better hardware support (though I cannot find any specifics). I just did a reinstall on one computer and plan on doing one on another (my htpc where it matters a lot more) soon. I'm wondering if it is worth upgrading (I only have 2004 right now). I'm looking at some new programs for my htpc and most only say mce 2005 compatible, as does a new tuner card I got (visiontek tv wonder hd 650 pci-e). Its the only pci-e tuner card I have so I really need to make it work (pci slots are full).
I'm also wondering if 2005 is better with remote compatibility (I have an antec versi, a stream zap, and a gyration mce remote).
I noticed that mce also only plays from the my viideos folder and doesn't seem to like ripped dvd's (not to mention I just got a blueray/hd-dvd rom so I'm wondering about ripped blueray).
Are there any good articles, reviews or comparisons that I can read of the the versions, or does anyone know how big the differences really are? I just cannot seem to find any in depth info.
I would really hate to throw down 100$ for xp mce 2005 for nothing. Fyi no I'm not interested in upgrading to vista. while I might have to reconsider at some point, I have 4 computers and shelves worth of hardware, most of which is probably not vista compatible. I really don't want to give up the ability to just use what I want and change stuff around however I want.
Any help or links would be greatly appreciated!!!
