Difference between "3" and "5" chipset

could anyone tell me which is the difference between the 3 chipset and the 5 one in lite-on cd-rw recorders? think i understand 3 is better, but don’t know exactly why.

thanx

beg your pardon: 5 is better.
but i still don’t know why

None of them is “better”, 5 is just a newer revision, not a entirely different chip since apparently the 3 series can do exactly what the 5 does…
But to be honest only LiteOn themselves know what reallly differs between the two…

Well if you compare the features of the drives using these chipsets, the “3” chipset supports up to 32x writing using Z-CLV and the “5” chipset supports up to 48x (possibly higher) writing using CAV and P-CAV.

so, what for the “6” new one?

6S=24x ReWrite (maybe!), that’s about it…

no way to make a “5” become a “6”?

6S=24x ReWrite (maybe!), that’s about it…

The rumors are it (the top model) will be even: 32x ReWrite and 52x Write!!
