Did I kill my DVD Drive?

Hello,

I have a liteon DH16D2S dvd drive and got a firmware off these forums by CodeKing. It made the drive significantly faster, and I ripped about 10 dvds last night then it stopped working. I turned on my computer today and now the best I can get is 2.7 MB/s (I was getting about 13 MB/s yesterday). Is there anything I can do to bring this drive back to life? Thanks

There are alot of things you can try.

  1. Reflash the drive
  2. Try a new cable
  3. Try the drive in a different computer to see what results you get.

Just some suggestions.

The increased ripping speed may have loosened a few things (due to vibration) - try alan1476’s #2 (check/reattach/change the cable) and check jumper settings.

Check the dma.
