DH16A1L (Lite-On burner) + firmware update + booktype

Hi.

Where could I find firmware update for DH16A1L? My current firmware is KH39.

Here

http://www.liteonit.com.tw/global/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=75

I have found a firmware for DH-16A3H. Is it compatible with DH16A1L?

I’ve tried to setting up booktype to DVD-ROM using various softwares (Nero DiscSpeed 4, LiteOn Bit Setting Utility v1.3.5, BookType for LiteOn Drives v1.0.0, DVDBitSetter v2.1.13, ImgBurn v2.4.2.0) with no sucess (message: failed to set book type). Is it drive not enable this option?

How could I manage this question?

My purpose is to to create DVDs compatibles with the majority standalone players.

If it’s necessary any additional informantion, I’ll be glad to provide it.

Many thanks in advance.

2 different drives, at the very least with 2 different interfaces. I would not try to crossflash to that drive. :disagree:

Specifically for ImgBurn: did you try to scroll down and set each option to DVD-ROM?

It might help to back up your firmware with the Flash Utility [ http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/flash-utility-liteon-based-optical-drives-v3-0-2-new-190420/ ] and ask C0deKing via Private Message to check your extracted firmware out. If he gives you the OK, you may be able to flash your drive to a LH-20A1L, or he might be able to give you other opinions about your problem.

You may also just be able to use DVD-R in place of DVD-R. It’s not a given that one format will work consistently better than the other for you.

Yes. I’ve tried all of them without success.

Do you think I’ll get DVD-videos more compatibles with standalone players if use DVD-R to burn in my videos?

Thanks again.

If it greyed out then that dvd burner does not support booktyping as I have a pioneer that has it greyed out and does not booktype. You can give ImgBurn a try for booktyping. Here’s the link for ImgBurn http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download . Now in ImgBurn you need to set it to booktype before you burn your dvd. In ImgBurn go to tools-drive-change booktype. Then you select your drive you going to burn with. The directions after that are easy to understand

I have just tried with ImgBurn.
I have selected “Lite On”, which I think the best choice for my Atapi driver  , then
Change for : Current Media (for DVD+RW Media)
Current Setting : DVD+r DL
New setting : DVD-ROM

Clicked on Change and then : “FAILED, Reason : no additional info…”

When I try the same with “Ricoh”, the answer is different but still no way …
“This function is for DVD+RW media, not for DVD+R DL!”

:frowning:

It is for all +r media. I already set mine using nero and they are permanately set to booktype to dvd-rom. Here’s a link to a thread http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/lite-dh-20a3p-h-s-l-post-your-scans-here-222747 start reading at post #19. I don’t know what top say to you but I do know it should say DL in ImgBurn too as it shows on my drives.

Thank you GJ for your help !

This time I tried on my laptop. I have change the oem firmware (Acer slimtype 8515 drive) to a Lite-On one with flashfix.

I have succeeded in changing the book type to DVD-ROM ! :iagree: and have burned the DVD DL with DVD decrypter

Now the problem is that the DVD DL is not recognized by the player …
I burned with a 2x speed, it is a noname DVD.

I will try to burn at 1 x speed to check …(or try another soft to burn the DVD … ?)

Get yourself some verbatim DL as they are the most reliable and compatible to use
