Got a problem which surfaces at times, and lately more so then before, and was looking to some insight as to why or how to possibly correct it.
First my setup:
Operating System: XP Pro Sp1
UltraPlex 40X Reader
1TB of disk space w/10 IDE HDs
Dual 1Ghz CPU on a Asus CUVX4-D MB w/ 1.2G of ram
Pagefile set at 1900 to 1950 on a different partition then the OS.
Okay now that thats out of the way here is what happens, I have seen this more so on Nero, since I use it for burning cue/bin images.
If I burn 2 CD's at the same time with Nero, I have no troubles, 50% of the time if I try to burn 3 CD's at once then Nero Used read buffer depletes off each of the drives, and not just off one drive but all the drives, it seems to take turns. Now if I try to burn 4 CD's at once 80% of the time the used read buffer depletes, and 30% of the time one of the discs will fail in the process. I have the 4.72 ASPI Layers installed. All 4 burners are on the own channel, so they dont share, All are masters on there own channels I even setup the Cache for Nero onto different partitions of the systems but no luck.
Now the odd thing is if I go into the task manager and kill all the process except whats needed for xp to run, then no problems, no read buffer running out, no failed burns. And before this last install of XP pro, I was able to burn 4 at the same time with nero, but the used read buffer would always run out, and occasionally a burn would fail, but not as often as now.
I know this is probably odd cause most dont have 4 burners running on one system, but what would be the cause of this? And what could I possibly do to correct this without having to go into the task manager and kill all the process to do this? Any help or suggestions would be great.
