I think Denon have made a mistake here. Not only does this player lack the high end features many would wish (DENON Link, Universal DVD-Audio & SACD support etc) but the lack of Ethernet or BD-Video 2.0 profile support means this product will have a very short shelf life. I can’t help but think this is just a player to subsidise Denon’s preparations for a BluRay/HD DVD combi player. Buyer beware.

Probably opposite, no one in their right mind would spend that much money on technology that is obsolete before the box is closed in factory. So will sit on shelf forever. I recall Denon as a brand that teenagers bought in the 80’s to get the “real” HIFI on the cheap. Guess things has changed.

Actually, it’s the other way around. Denon USED to make real high end audiophile gear and has evolved into expensive mid-fi toys for yuppies with money and no smarts or taste. I’d avoid it like the plague… :S

Funny, most sites dedicated to HiDef audio/video swear by Denon. Be they home theatre enthusiasts who support HD DVD or Blu-Ray.

It seems, from comments made by DENON in germany, that a HD DVD player is also being prepared by the company. I still think they have misjudged things though - a high end dual format player is what most want.

@JamesL Yes, you’ll get, but not at a sub 2000$ price :g
