Welcome to the forum

When I got my own Dell just over a year ago, I was supplied with two discs: A Dell Resource disc (containing drivers etc for both XP and Vista), and a Vista Home Premium OS disc.

All I did to reinstall Vista from scratch, was boot from the Vista disc.

Be sure to alter the Boot Sequence in the BIOS first, to make sure your DVD drive is the first boot device.

bought a Dell computer 6 months ago. But recently I corrupted my hard drive and am unable to use the image retore to reboot my computer. So I am trying to use the discs supplied with the machine. But when I try using the Vista OS disc it loads to a green blank screen and stops.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is ??

I believe they only offer 30 days of support on the installed OS and SW after that you are on your own.

Could be a hardware fault …

Generally Dell bundle complete versions of the Install Media … so you shouldn’t have an image, but a proper windows install DVD.

What happens when you run the DVD?
Are you pressing F12 to change the boot device to the CD/DVD?

Does the install DVD show any messages that it’s loading anything?

OK when you start the computer and the splash screen comes on you need to press <Ctrl>+<F11> and release them at the same time. But here is the link for dell support and it gives you the directions on how to re-install your OS http://club.cdfreaks.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=2156924 now I give the link as the directions are too long to explain on this forum. Also here is a link to the dell forum for more help if needed http://en.community.dell.com/
