Deleted Java

I need to download Java onto my computer. It was deleted and I can’t get it back on. I go to the Java site but it won’t do anything. Any suggestions? I really can’t afford to take it in for servicing.

Have you checked within IE tools “Manage Add-On” to see if you can re-install it that way

Hi,

the big, fat download link on http://www.java.com/en/ does not work for you?
Please see also http://www.java.com/en/download/help/ for additional help.

You can also do a system restore back to the point just before it was deleted

 didn’t know Java was needed to access Windows Help and Support, are you by chance running Vista Home Premium ?

I think your confusing MSjava with Sun Java. What system are you running and what is your java version??? But since you mentioned windows help my assumption is your talking about the defuncted msjava not the Sun Java. If so you should properly remove the msjava and install the runtime version java6u12 from Sun. But without knowing your O/S I think Sun Java should run on vista.

This site is great!!! OK… I think this is the info you may need. I have Windows XP -professional 2002 version -service pack 2. The Java that I downloaded is "Java ™6 Update 12. Where do I go from here. I also recently lost my McAffee security… so I downloaded AVG… would that be causing a prob? Should I go back to McAffee?

Here is the download for java-I would recommend you download the offline version so you can install it when you want to.

As for the two AV program existing together. I would make sure McAfee is totalled uninstalled and not traces of it left before installing AVG also they do have a free version of AVG.

Here a link that might help to remove macfee security suite

Not sure how this one works but you can have a read over and see what you think.

Thanks… I have Java OK but I still cannot move from website to website. It will let me go to most initial websites but no further. I cannot get to “Help and Support” or “aol computer check up”. I can usually sign on to sites but nothing from there. IT’s frustrating. Any suggestions?

That sounds more like a file go corrupted and or a malware or virus is on your system preventing you from going where you want to go. Looks like you might need some house cleaning on your computer and scanning to remove unwanted apps that is installed?? Otherwise your left with a complete reinstall of your O/S to fix the problem if your not able to find what is causing the problem.

Thanks. I have no idea how to do all that. I’ll probably take it in somewhere so I dont mess it up any further.
