DeFrag

I’ve had this for 3 years and have never defraged it. Should I do it or not. I don’t notice any problems yet however, I defrag my computer every month or so, and I’m not sure about this one. Thanks

One of the most missed things is that “if ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

Defragging a HDD is not mandatory, but it can give some benefits. A too fragmented disk, for example, is a bit slower and reading/writing files on a fragmented disk cause a slightly higher stress on the disk mechanics, because it is needed more work for heads to find files scattered on platters.

So, if you don’t have issues like a painfully slow performance when you read/write files or frequent buffer emptying when you burn a DVD, I suggest to not defrag

Thanks so much for the info. I do not copy. My dvd burner has not worked for 2 years. I just use it to record TV shows. Thanks again
