My mother hasn’t used the Daz brand in around 20 years ever since she had what must have been a faulty box of it. She said the washer would leave the floor covered in foam and require 5 or more rinse cycles to get it all out of the clothes and even a half dose would still leave suds left over.
I saw a consumer watchdog programme a few years ago which dealt with washing machine problems, mainly “Energy saving” models in particular which claimed to wash everything in cool cycles and ended up doing the opposite after a few months use, i.e. adding stains to clothes.
When they got a professional to examine several machines of consumer complaints to see what was going on, it turned out that there was bad mould growth inside the machines. Usually a regular 60C wash prevents such growth, but when everything is washed on 30C and 40C cycles, this actually helps mould growth, especially if the door is left closed after the cycle, since the drum remains damp inside between cycles.
Once a month we run the devices at max temperature settings within nothing in it.
Exactly as the professional recommended. The workaround is fairly simple - Do an empty cycle once a month on the highest temperature setting. For older machines, this is usually the #1 or \95/ cycle. With our current Whirlpool, the ‘Sanitary’ cycle is its 95C cycle.
