DAO = Disk At Once

This means that the disk is written in one pass, that is: the laser writes first the innerpart of the cd (where the TOC is) and moves to the outerside of the cd and ends with the writing of the leadout. The opposite of DAO is Track At Once. In this case, the datatracks are written first, then the laser moves to the beginning and writes the lead-in (=TOC), then the laser moves to the outerside of the cd and writes the lead-out.

DAO16 = Disk At Once + the use of P+Q subchannel
DAO96 = Disk At Once + the use of P-W subchannel (=all subchannels)
