OK, that "nothing" has a double meaning.
The money earned was firstly virtual, based on virtual profits from my stock portfolio at a stock monitoring + portfolio website (i.e. it uses 'pretend' money). Yes, so I actually made nothing IRL...but it was a practise exercise to test my feel of the market and whether I would have made (or lost) money if I spent actual money.
The second meaning of 'nothing' is that I had to do squat to make it - just buy stocks after a little market research. Really nothing more than reading a few investor relations reports, taking a look at the market and making a pick.
Sure beats a 0900-1800 office job :Z
