Damaged left index finger

OK, thank your lucky stars that your left index finger doesn’t look like mine.
Today I jammed a spinning #2 Philips bit into it.
It’s narly lookin’, swollen and oozin’.
Just thought I’d share and maybe find a little sympathy for myself in my sorry state :frowning:

But on the bright side, had a great weekend steelhead fishin’ on the Deschutes
Caught fish, saw Bighorns, Muleys, Chukar.
All in all life’s good, the finger will heal

/me gives jflan some sympathy :flower:

That does sound nasty…and I can’t even begin to imagine the pain. Hope it gets better soon

Thank you for not posting pictures.

I’ve done the same thing a time or two, though the worst injury was when I put a wood chisel through the flesh just under the left index finger.

If you’re right handed, the left hand seems to become a target when working with tools.

I envy your fishing trip with all the wildlife sightings. Hope you heal up quickly.

Yep, my left hand, esp. my left thumb quivers in fear whenever I reach for the hammer
Sometimes it will drop the nail before the hammer even gets there

Thanks Arachne

Fingers crossed that it heals quickly, eh? … err … never mind.

My left ring finger was crished about two years ago, not very useable and only some feeling on one half; some loss but I get by. things can be much worse.

#8

ouchy and i bet you won’t do that again!

[/QUOTE]Easily done if you’re holding a screw with that hand and applying pressure on the screwdriver with the other. Did the same thing a few years ago, where the bit went into the joint and a lot of joint (synovial) fluid came out :(. Luckily it didn’t get infected and repaired nicely :).

It’s one of my bug-bears about Philips (or other cross-head) screw patterns: you need a lot more driver force to keep the contact engaged. Slot-head screws - although old-fashioned - require way less and I’ve gone back to using them pretty much all the time.

Glad to hear it wasn’t serious enough to interrupt the fishing expedition

It’s reports like this that make me glad I live in a socialist empire with practically free Medical, rather than the free market where no-one, except the elite, can afford decent health care :stuck_out_tongue:

Yikes !
I hope I never do it bad enough to see the fluid
I’m feelin’ better already

Naw, it was my off-hand…not my hook-settin’ hand
Gotta protect that, especially this time of year when Mr. Big is in the river.
