I would suggest buying Maxell or Verbatim as brands.(but you might want to stay away of Verbatim made in India by MBIL). Verbatim Pastel is Taiyo Yuden the media I mostly use these days because it's cheap and reliable.
About MBIL I don't trust them.
Why not ?
Well the Verbatims Datalife + made by MBIL scored very low in the last accelerate ageing tests I have seen. Really if you compare it to older verbatim datalife + disc's which were made by MCC themselves or CMC.
Next MBIL own media performed quite bad in the real ageing and accelerate ageing tests.
They might inproved but the Verbatim data from a few months ago doesn't seem to say that.
ALso if you see Verbatim datalife+ MBIL disc and compare it with old verbatim datalife+ CMC disc's or TY you can cleary see a difference when it comes to the side coating. MBIL media hardly has it. Why hardly any side coating doesn't mean directly a bad disc. The disc's that scored poor in the ageing tests most times do score less on that point.
Also normal MBIL scored very bad in my UV test. THe ceram coated ones (EMTEC) however did score okay and I have to say that these perform also better as most other MBIL media I used also there coating on the sides is better so MBIL might have different standards and that we in europe might have ended up with the poor stuff. Knoweing that cheap compannies like MMORE and Intenso use it this is very good possible.
