CTRL launches browser homepage ?!?!?!

I have winxp sp3, legal version, automatic updates.

Keyboard(info from driver tab): Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft natural PS/2 Keyboard

From few days ago, whenever I press CTRL inside a Windows Explorer(e.g. My Computer) , my default browser launches my homepage. Or when I am in Chrome/IE, it goes to my homepage.

The problem does NOT exist when I use another keyboard.

I tried reinstalling drivers, no results.

I changed/removed registry key which is for “WebHome” HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AppKey\7
No results.

Any ideas?

There’s a chance Hijackthis can help you solve the problem. Get it HERE do a system scan and post a copy of the log file here.

This would indicate that the key on that keyboard might be programmed to do just that.

I don’t believe the CTRL key, by itself, even generates a key code. I’d go with ‘defective hardware for $14.99 Alex’.
