Can BIOS from an OEM (like Gateway) be cross flashed with BIOS from the designer of a motherboard?
I have many times seen motherboards detected by software like CPU-Z, as something different than what OEM companies document (Like many times a "Gateway" model motherboad is detected as an Intel model or Foxconn model motherboard).
Not a good idea...OEM motherboards have vendor specific BIOS's. A general rule is to flash if you're having problems. Remember the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
OEM BIOS tends to not allow for adjustments of frequencies, timings, voltages, and many other important values.
Comercial BIOS does tend to allow stated adjustment.
I believe that increased functionality is always a plus.
And more risk.
You can only try it - I wouldn't suggest it anyway.
