Hi guys

I’m trying to burn a backup for my X360 but so far I have made 3 expensive coasters.

My burner is a lite-on 16h5s
the media is verbatim DVD+R DL 8x MKM-003-00

I’ve tried burning on 8x and AWS(max) but same thing happens.

Running a CRC check reads a lot of errors starting at 50%. The verify part does the same.

Any ideas?

Burned another at 4x speed still verbatim though this time from singapore (others are from india)

The problem starts at the second layer :frowning:

It seems that your drive is not able to burn correctly these discs.

If available, a firmware update should improve burning quality, but my guess is that you need a more recent drive for these media. If I remember correctly, they were released more recently than your burner, so if no firmware update is available, only a more recent drive can burn MKM-003 discs

Tried burning on another pc with a DVR-K06RS drive. It burned perfectly (but slow) Thanks for the help

Is there a new drive you can recommend for burning MKM-003 discs? And does HDD RAID interfere with SATA burners?

#5

For what I know, HDD RAID cause no interference with SATA burners

A good recent drive is the Optiarc 7240, but, if you can find it (not more produced by a rather long time :()), also the Pioneer 116 is very good for DL discs

I like the speed on the <layer id=“google-toolbar-hilite-1” style=“background-color: Cyan; color: black;”>optiarc</layer> 7240 and its cheap

#7

Be careful to not burn media too fast. Too bad, not every disc can be burned at high speed. Media quality recently has decreased a lot compared to media available a couple of years ago :frowning:

#8

But what if its quality media like verbatim? Is it also a bad idea to burn them at high speed?

#9

Recently also Verbatim media showed a drop in quality :frowning:

But they are still enough good to be burned at high speeds

For single layer discs, my choice is 12x, and for MKM-003 6x or 8x are good :iagree:

#10

So 75% of max speed on quality media. I’ll remember that

Thanks

#11

You’re welcome
