[qanda]This thread is about the HP Pavilion dv7-1279wm Entertainment Notebook PC. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]I was wondering if anyone know what is the max speed cpu chip will this model support. I was looking at getting a Intel Core2Extreme Mobile X9100 3.06Ghz and did'nt want to waste my money if it will not work.
What do you use the PC for that you need so much more speed? How much is that cpu? Usually people do not upgrade their laptops cpu.
I upgraded my last laptop's CPU from a 1.6 ghz Turion to a 2.0 ghz Turion when Newegg had them on sale for an ultra cheap $69. To the OP, you might be able to check on what CPUs were offered for your laptop and any on that list should work. Any not on that list is taking a gamble.
I know, but I use it for gaming. The cpu is $219. Have you ever heard of a game called Crysis? Even with my pc specs, I still can't run it at full capacity. Besides, I'm a PC Tech (newbie) and I want to push this baby to it limits!
The laptop is fairly new, and there is hardly any info on it at all.
It looks like the T9550 running at 2.66 ghz is the fastest dual core CPU you can order for your laptop. The X9100 runs at 3.06 ghz but at least they share the 1066 bus speed. I was say that if your CPU cooler can handle the extra heat there is a good chance it will work. HP even offered a quad core (Q9000) for this laptop so you might want to consider it too.
THX for your help, it is greatly appreciated!
