When i left the house earlier today, i saw my neibour 2 houses down was throwing out his pc. I took the thing inside to scavange some parts off of it. The pc was the most disgusting thing i've ever seen, this guy must be a heavy smoker, and the computers internals were covered with nicotine. I even found some cigarette buts INSIDE the computer. :Z
Anyways, i pulled the RAM out of it because it looked clean, and poped it into my pc here. All booted up and ran well, but i didn't notice that it was only runing at 333mhz. Both my ram and the new stuff is DDR 400mhz. I now have 4 sticks of 512mb. According to my BIOS n' stuff, it is running dual channel, but for some reason only at 333mhz. Could it be because of different timing. My ram is 3-3-3-8, the new stuff is 2.5-3-3-8. In my BIOS i can set it up to run at 400mhz manually, but i don't know what to put for timing.
So my 2 main questions are; should i mess with what the BIOS automatically did, and if yes, what timing should i use. Even if i shouldn't i still count this as a win... 1gig of ram for free.
EDIT: I just noticed that the timing seems to be set to what it is recomended for my ram at 333mhz. Maybe they both have the same timing at 333mhz so maybe my MB thought that would be better.
