I am transcoding DVD movies using DVD Shrink, and burning them using CopyToDVD ver 2.4.17.269 and Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107D loaded with hacked firmware ver 1.10 to TDK branded DVD-R 4x disks (TDKG02000000).
Here is how DVDInfo Pro is showing those blanks:
…
Media Id Code Speed 2.0x 2770KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 8.0x 11080KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 6.0x 8310KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 2.0x 2770KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 1.0x 1385KBps
Write Strategy Speed 1.0x 1385KBps
…
Here is my question: With CopyToDVD ‘Maximum writing speed for DVD media’ set to Max will the disk be written at 4x or 6x or even perhaps 8x?
Also, is it safe to assume that, since setting CopyToDVD to 4x is not persistent (like all other slower settings) and instead switches to the ‘Max’ setting, 4x is the fastest speed that CopyToDVD can burn at? Also, that setting is not persistent with NO blank loaded in drive.
P.S. Interestingly enough Nero ver 6.3.1.6 allows this blank to be recordable at 1x, 2x, 6x and 8x - but NOT 4x… Which is exactly how DVDInfo Pro is reporting it. Weird… since those blanks are certified at 4x.
