Copying King Kong

I had problems with copying Memoirs of a Geisha and 1 click DVD said to use Slysoft’s AnyDVD instead of DVD43. This worked but when I tried to copy King Kong, I had read errors. Today, there was a new version of AnyDVD which I installed but I still encountered errors. I played the movie and it plays fine. Anybody with this problem in copying King Kong?

Did both of them using 1Click DVD Copy and Anydvd. Worked perfectly. Have 2 DVD burners. Narnia also copied okay.

Worked for me (King Kong, Memoirs of a Geisha and Narnia)
AnyDvd ver 5.9.5.2
CloneDVD2 latest version
MadDog DVD burner

i was able to burn it without errors but this was the first disc i have noticed a quality issue during playback. in some parts of the movie you could notice slight imperfections with king kong’s face(looked blury) and the clouds in the sky did not move naturally. the movie did play with no skipping so i just chalked it up to being the bi-product of compressing a visually/graphically advanced movie like king kong. I assumed that there was some data that got left out during the compression process. I burned it 3 times on different media and it was the exact same on each disc. I would like to try it with a double layer disc to be 100% correct.

I think the only thing Kong had protecting it (R1) was CSS. No where near the stuff that Capote, Chicken Little, Geisha, or Narnia had. I did a straight dupe to a dual layer using anydvd and clonecd, perfect, no issues like what kenny44 mentioned on his shrunken blurred copy.

There is an update to Any DVD 5.9.5.3 when you download uncheck safe mode.
No problem for me with King kong also did it with Shrink, just to try it out, also same with Narnia. good luck.

What was your compression ration? Do you have recode? that does a better job with advanced analysis mode than shrink. Also, if you are using shrink make sure you have quality enhancements marked (either sharp or smooth) and always do advanced analysis.

As far as dual layer make sure you rip it in iso mode with decryptor and leave layer breaks intact or you will have issues.

IF you really want to make a nice backup I would suggest a program like dvd rebuilder and using encoding instead of transcoding.

This log is of a Dual Layer Verbatim ( Media ID: MKM-001-00 ) .
I could have burned at 4x , but I wasn’t taking any chances . :stuck_out_tongue:
The movie ‘file’ is directly from the AnyDVD"RIPPER" folder .
I used the ‘stand-alone’ CopytoDVD .
I was surprised .
 Perfect Copy !!!

I also burned King Kong , “On The FLY” with "SonicRecordNow!"
I was feeling ‘Brave’ !
Using the MadDog as reader , and the HP640b as writer …
( HP@ 2.4x max DL available )
Again  Perfect Copy !!!

Are very important factors here .

This copy plays fine though ,
This is the first I’ve seen of “degradation” from over compression .
Not really all that bad , like previously stated , definitely watchable ,
For the most part , I was impressed , looks really good ;
but when looking for ‘perfection’ there are a couple of spots ,
as previously mentioned .

I’ll burn a disc using 1Click from the “RIPPER” folder ,
but I’m sure the results will be clean .
