Copying DVDs

Hi there, I’m pretty new to all this so please bear with me.

I installed my own DVD burner drive, and it came with Nero 7. I copied one DVD with no problem, as it itself was a copy.

The problem is when I go to copy a DVD, where I need to use the Nero Recode to cut off the menus and shrink it. I have a decrypter (DVD43) and it decodes it okay…

I downloaded 1Click DVD Copy Pro and it doesn’t work either.

What I don’t understand is when it says this: “(Medium in drive: DVD+R. Medium required by compilation: DVD R/RW, DVD R DL, DVD-RAM.)” as both the burner and the program are supposed to handle DVD+R discs.

Here is the whole thing from NeroHistory:

I’m sorry if this is not supposed to be discussed here. I really hope someone can help me, I feel like I’ve wasted $100 on this drive, and now can’t do what I got it for. :frowning:

Not enough free discspace.

So, you are trying to put 6.4GB onto a 4.7GB disc which just will not work. You need to shrink the DVD down in size more than you are. If its a video DVD then try DVDShrink. If its a data DVD then you will need to remove some files. The reason its asking for a different disc is purely for this size problem.

The other problem is that your DVD drive is running with DMA off, this will seriously affect its performance (as in maximum 2x writing and reading). Search for the thread about enabling DMA

Thank you very much! I figured out that my drive got full with the copies of the movies it was saving…I thought it went from one drive to the other; I didn’t know it saved to C: on the way.

Off to look for the DMA thread!

Okay, I followed these directions for turning on DMA (http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm )…and it says my DMA is on…but that thing you quoted says it’s not. I’m confused…what do I do?
