I have downloaded a movie from frostwire and tried to make a copy of it to a dvd. I have used power to go, divx player plus, and dvd nextcopy. All attempts have been unsuccessful. Every copy has been unreadable. The movie is in avi format. Can anyone help me?

A better way to go is to buy the movie so you don’t have all that hassle…

Hi gooman and welcome to our forum, we cannot help you with copyrighted downloads if you do not own the original movie, but if the movie is not copyrighted and , many are not there are tools you can use like ConvertXtoDVD4 to change the .avi to a compliant DVD and then you will have no problems making a backup.

Thank you for your input. How do I get these tools like the ConvertxtoDVD4? I would like to try them and see if it works.

Don’t forget it has a trial period before you have to purchase the registration but it is worth the money spent on it.

There is a free alternative that works very well. It is called AVStoDVD and can be found here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/AVStoDVD

The HC encoder included with AVStoDVD is as good as many mpeg2 encoders that cost hundreds of dollars. I would prefer it to ConvertXtoDVD personally, but it has been years since I last tested ConvertX. Maybe it has improved.

ConvertX is probably more versatile in menu creation, since that part of AVStoDVD is fairly rudimentary.
