After trolling through the Tunebite website I found the below FAQ. This describes my issue and is most likely what I am facing. I cannot, however, find the two items they say are listed under “Options” (Unprotect and WMV7). Are any of you familiar w/what they are referring to?
I have removed a number of apps and see very little improvement. The file I am working with is less than a gig in size. My laptop is an HP Pavillion w/a AMD Turion64 processor. This should be fast enough, correct?
- My videos are choppy and seem to have frame drops. What do I do?
When converting large videos, a very high performance of your PC is required. If your PC is not fast enough, frame drops can occur and that makes the video choppy and sometimes you might have only a black screen indicating that Tunebite could not capture anything. Please try the following:
If the original video you are trying to convert is of high resolution, you can try to reduce the resolution of the converted videos to reduce the load on your CPU. You can do this in the following way: Go to “Options” -> “Unprotect” ->“Halve video resolution to improve performance for videos larger than:”, and choose ‘320X240’.
Choose the profile WMV7 as the format to convert to, as this takes up less resources than other encodings.
Convert only one video at a time
Another reason for frame drops can be running applications in the background. Please close all other non-essential applications, and try the conversion with Tunebite again.
If your operating system is Vista, then please switch-off the aero feature in Vista and choose windows basic theme (please read the entry in our forum for a detailed description here)
