hypothetical situation

I have a Pioneer DVD writer [A03] and the single layers dvd ps2 games GTA III. I have a modchipped PS2 with the cool messiah chipp.

how do i make a backup of the game ? (settings + appz)

What is the protection on PS2 games?

#2

I’m pretty sure there is none. A simple file copy should work.

#3

using nero? (i dont know if nero supports dvd writing)

Are you sure? I thought it did.

I don’t know, I don’t have a DVD burner, so it’s kind of a moot point for me.

neither do i; i said i dont know too since i dont have a dvd writer (yet) too

i have made copys of this and other ps2 games
using my a04 with both nero 5.582 and diskjuggler v4.1
but because sony use crap dvd drives you have to use
quality blank media & pref gen 3

good luck…

i heard the new DJ cant read PS2 games properly (but can write them fine) … is this true?

Also, is it true that u can only use a DVD-rw on win XP/2k 'cos in 98/me the OS doesn’t allow you to have 4.7GB files??

I havnt heard of the problem with dj on ps2 disks
but im using latest version 4.1xxx and have had no problems
at all . also nero works without a hitch.
ive also used prassi but cannot comment on it as i prefer dj & nero.
as for xp/2000 there is a filesize limit on fat32 formatted drives,
(win 95/98/me) but i believe some of the newer software gets
around this. but ive been using xp from day 1 and when you get into ripping dvd vids you really need large partitions .
anyway hope this helps…

hehe xp since day 1…is that since day 1 of its release or day 1 of ur computer dayz…if the latter then ur like a newbie lol jk

We were all newbies once Smuth_Joe…

i think the first os i used was punch tape into a dec mainframe
and later on altos basic on a homebrew from young mr gates…
someone pass my zimmerframe so i can reboot my pc. lol:p

Nero or Prassi PrimoDVD. Click ‘n’ burn.
DJ have some probs on reading PS2 DVD’s (at least at my PC). Stops at 93% telling me that there is not enough disk space having 73GB of free spave at my disk

my question is this:

According to what i read about the diffrence between dvd-rw and dvd+rw it seems that +rw is what you should go for because they advertise compatibility with dvd players and all that type of stuff. So why is it that its the -rw that the ps2 needs? or can you use both for ps2?

#14

the ps2 will not read +rw well mine wont & none of the ones my mates have got will. but they all read dvdr &-rw (again mine will)
aslong as you use quality media.
as for +rw working on home players. i have tried both types
in various players i own & have access to , and again dvdr nearly
always seems to work (and in alot of cases cheapo 50p blanks)
but dvd -rw & +rw only seems to work in the more upmarket
players. probably due to the pc drives in the cheaper players.
but as the blanks for +rw are alot more expensive than. -r -rw
counterparts. the markets is tending towards the latter.
but as in all things pc this could change.

I use Prassi Primo DVD 2.0 Just hit the disc to disc copy tab. Im actually doing on the fly as Im still using Win 98 (fat32) for now anyway.

May very well be the reason. The Fat32 filesystem (95b or c, 98, 98se, ME) has a filesize limitation of 1gb. Thats why DVD movie files are all broken into .99gb parts
