Copy Audio CD to Hard Drive

Want to copy my audio classical cd collection to hard drive in best sound quality. Using Nero (image - nrg files), have found that where the music has no breaks, there is a split second break where the cd has index points within one continuous piece of music. I have selected the "no pauses between tracks, but still get the blip where the cd has an index point. Can you help, please?

Hi ian78787, welcome to CDFreaks!

In my opinion Nero is not the best tool for the job.

My favourite freeware tool for doing this would be ExactAudioCopy using Monkey’s Audio (APE) format. Monkey’s Audio format is loss-less and it saves roughtly 50% of the disk space compared to uncompressed WAV (PCM) format.

My favourite non-free tool would be J. River Media Center which can also rip and save in Monkey’s Audio format. Matthew T. Ashland who invented and maintains the Monkey’s Audio format works for J. River BTW.
