Copy and burning programs

There is some thing I don’t quite understand about cd/dvd copy and burning programs in regards to copy protection.

When you make a 1:1 copy how does the copy protection know? Since it is digital media using 1’s and 0’s should all of the 1’s and 0’s be the same and in the same places on the disk and if not couldn’t a program be made to do this? Wouldn’t that make it impossible for any copy protection to tell if it is real or copy?

1:1 copy won’t copy unless you first use a copying program to remove the copy protection
