ConvertxtoDVD - Write error?

#1

I recently acquired and installed ConvertxtoDVD ver. 2.1.8.193 for purposes of burning ripped dvds. [Note: For copying DVDs (ie., DVD to DVD), I’ve been using AnyDVD coupled with DVD-cloner.]

The DVD-R media I am using are Fijufilm 16x and Maxell 8x. I have no problems burning DVDs (DVD-DVD) using AnyDVD and DVD-cloner. I have severe write error encountered, however, burning ripped DVD (in .mpg or .avi format) using ConvertxtoDVD. Below is the content of the log file (I included only the write part of the file where the error is; that is, after encoding the file).

Note: Error indicated CD-burner dirty even after I have cleaned the burner with a laser lens cleaner.

ConverxtoDVD may not be good afterall! I would appreciate any help in resolving this problem and/or recommendation on alternative and good software to use in converting/burning .mpg, .avi etc … to DVD.

Welcome to CD Freaks.

The Ritek F1 media is causing problems with many burners with out-of-date firmware & the fact that only 4x,2x & 1x burn speeds are available lends me to suspect that this is your problem.

What burner do you have?

Hi,
I have been using ConvertxtoDVD ver. 2.1.8.193 coupled with DVD Region+CSS Free for the last few months without any problems. I suspect that the fault lies with the media used. I would advise to use Verbatim DVD-R and the latest firmware for your writer.

I have been using convertxtodvd for several months now, and I have been using the same media too (from the same pack), but in these past couple of weeks it started coming up as a write error. My driver for my burner is updated, and it burns other things such as data discs, music cds, etc, without a problem. I even cleaned my drive, but nothing seems to work. Could it be some kind of bug that could be fixed by just uninstalling and reinstalling it?

Hi there,

Those RITEKF1 are 2nd class media.

But this might help :stuck_out_tongue:

1/8/2007 11:28:37 PM info Init success: DVD-R packet writing

In the ConvertXtoDVD Settings, burn Tab, enable

[X] Prefer SAO for DVD-R

It will burn those DVD-R in Session At Once instead of Packet Writting !

It should/might help the burning with ConvertXtoDVD !

Hi guys!

I am facing the same problem sometimes with ConvertXtoDVD (latest version 2.1.13.217),
my recorder is a Plextor px-755A (some months old) one and the disks I’m using (for ages without problems previously) is tdk dvd+r.

The strange thing is that,
if I remove the disk after the problem occurs and re-insert the same disk and try to burn the same convertxtodvd files with Nero,
the disk is burned successfully!

So, it should be convertxtodvd problem!

What should I do?

  1. The speed I’m using is 8x (plextor capability 1-16, the same applies to the tdk disks),
    should I lower it down?
  2. Should I use SAO mode?
  3. Should I do something else?

Please help me guys, because this problem is driving me crazy!

Thanks in advance!
