Converting R2 Pal DVD to R1 NTSC

Hi, I have a HP DVD300c writer, using DVD Region Free and have DVD X Copy Platinum and Xpress. I have a question. I can copy region one ntsc dvds and they play fine on my standalone dvd player, which is also region one ntsc. However, I have a collection of region 2 pal dvds I was looking to back-up to watch on the standalone player. Is there a quick way of converting or do I need to rip the region 2 pal dvd using DVDx, changing the framerate at the same time? I’ve tested a copy of a r2 pal dvd in the standalone player and it doesn’t work (black and white, fuzzy picture), although it does work on the pc. Maybe I should just get a new standalone dvd player that plays multi region? Any help appreciated.

if you have the money buy a multi region dvd and pal/ntsc capable…as you suggested your self. Not sure if the tv has to support it also…
