The interest was purely academic...sort of the same motivation which would make mathematicians want to prove some obscure mathematical fact.
Incidentally, does anyone know why Alcohol 120% seems to produce physical characteristic plots much better than BWA builder? I tried doing a 295000 max sector read with the BWA builder at a speed of 1x and got spikes every time out of the 5 or so times I did it. I did it with Alcohol 120% only once at 1x and got a perfect plot with no spikes.
The guy from VSO software said that spikes are 'normal' due to electronic noise. That would not explain why another application is suddenly noise-proof.
