Converting dvd files into a format recognized by windows movie maker?

I need a program that will do this so that I can make a matt damon compilation on team america world police. Can’t have a water mark. If it costs money I might buy it but I still prefer free.

Get videolan at www.videolan.org and use this line in a batch file:

“C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc” -vvv %1 --sout-ffmpeg-qscale 1 :sout=#transcode{vcodec=WMV2,scale=1,acodec=wma,ab=96,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=asf,dst=%1.wmv}}

Note: this is a single line.

This batchfile will convert any movie format (that videolan can cope with) into a .WMV file. To use it, just drag the appropriate VOB to the batch file. Windows Movie Maker should be able to read it.

Where does the transfered file go? :stuck_out_tongue:

Open a windows explorer,
drag the to-be-encoded file on the batch file you made
encoding will start
the file will have the same name with .wmv attached to it in the same directory as the batch file itself. I suggest putting the batch file in the my movies directory.

How long does it usually take? I don’t see any difference in the task manager.

Oh, up to an hour or so. There should be a lot of disc activity going on.

Nothing happens…
