Converting and buring .avi movies

I have a number of .avi movies that I want to burn. I have found a dvd type (philips + cmc mag m01) that works in my home dvd player.

I have dvdsanta, ether’s easy dvd creator and convertxtodvd3. The first are click and burn, very simple but I want to know which program will give me the best quality movies, best colour, sound, movie to screen ratio etc. I am assuming it is in the conversion process? What program is best for this? It doesn’t have to be one of the ones I own.

Well I can’t comment on DVDSanta or EasyDVDC,however CX2DVD works good for me when I use it occasionally…However I find that FAVC creates a higher quality DVD for my taste, and I use IMGBurn…
Others have their preferences…Try them all let “your” eyes be the judge…

Does FAVC convert avi files into video files or does FAVC take video files and convert them into an image. I have imgburn but I haven’t used it yet. From what I understand imgburn only burns images so it is useless to burn video files?

FAVC will convert avi files to a dvd video, complete with menu if you need to select separate titles in the dvd. The output will be a Video_TS folder ready to burn to disk.

Imgburn can burn many different types of image files, regular data files and can burn a dvd video. It is my main tool for burning video, as well as regular data. Look through the guides to its use here:

I tried to convert with FAVC but kept getting an error message “unhandled exception has occured in your application”

I am using Vista and have done all my updates and I implemented avisynth. I did do it after I started FAVC but I kept getting the same error message even when closed FAVC and re-started it.

I was following this guide on how to use FAVC to convert and burn an avi movie.

Here are the exact details of my error message:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

use convertx no quality lost and very easy to use program perfect for converting avi’s

@ OP, your issues are most likely .NET related or Vista OS related, maybe read this for help/tips…I’m using FAVC on XP sys…Try running “As Administrator”…

@HDvision,I agree that Convertx2DVD is a good and easy to use proggy, however, typically when converting from one format to another, there will be some quality loss…JMHO!
