Converting a verbatim cdrw to a Liteon

I have heard that I can convert or oc my verbatim cdrw drive to liteon drive by doing a flash on it.
I don’t know if my verbatim drive can do this.
Yes, it does have a 12 digital s/n and its model # is vbt321240A
My question is it possible for my drive to be converted to a liteon and if so, how do I do it?
I might oc it too if the convertion work.
Lastly, if the convertion does work, what do I need to do to oc.
Thanks, thanks a lot

OC = most likely not possible

But convert it to a LTR-32123S will probably work.

Grab a bin firmware from my firmware place and follow the mtkflash guide.

I just picked up a Verbatim.
What would be the advantages of flashing it to an LTR-32123S?

Thanks

Advantage:

-Better program support
-Get the latest firmware with updated media support.

Disadvantage:

-Voids warranty

Use mtkflash to readout your current firmware and e-mail it or somehow get it to me. I’ll see what I can do. If you’d like, I can make an “update” for your drive so that it keps the same name…

is it possible to flash the verbatim 241040AL (58SC) to a lite-on?

just wondering. i recently flashed the verbatim firmware from 58SA and that worked fine.

Yes it’s possible if you use a binary firmware and mtkflash.

Not possible with Lite-On’s windows updater.

dear oc-freak

i looked at your firmwares - which one do i choose for my verbatim? one of your posts had this:

LTR-24101B: Not upgradaple, sanyo? chipset?
LTR-24102B: Not upgradable, mediatek chipset.
LTR-24103S–>LTR-32123S: possible, mediatek chipset.

your index has:
24102b
24102m
24103s

obviously, i would like to flash to the 24103s, but how do i tell which chipset is at the core of this verbatim?

WARNING !!!

I have flashed my Verbatim 40x into both Lite-on 40x and
Lite-on 48X.
I was able to write successfully with both 40x and 48x.
But the problem is that all the disc written by the flashed
drive cannot be read by any of my other cd-rom and
itself. ( I burn VCDs). I wasted a lot of CD-r (even writing
at very low speed.) before I realize the firmware upgrade
doesn’t work well ( eventhough Nero CD Speed said that
the data is ok.)
Can any one send me the original firmware for Verbatim?
I am thinking of going back.
