Convert continuous CD (.wav) to .mp3, but keep tracks?

Hey Everyone!

Yes, I’m new, and there is probably a post here somewhere, but I have a short amount of time to do this project. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated!

I have a friend that is a DJ, and he compiles CDs in .wav format. The problem is, is that the CDs are a continuous group of songs, and have no gaps. What I want to do, is convert the entire CD to mp3, without gaps. The catch? I still want to have “tracks”. For example, while playing the continuouse mp3, I can jump to song 4, song 8, etc. or just play the mp3 as one track, and have the player show track 1, track 2, track 3, etc. as it progress through playback.

Is there any software out there that will let me do this?

Thanks for your help!

Have you tried converting the wav to mp3? If so, what result did you get? I’m not sure if you are saying that the CD in wav format is just one big wav file or if there are several wav files just playing gapless. When you explore the disk, is it one file or several?
