Conversion rate slows WAY down all of a sudden

vbimport

#1

Everytime I convert a movie-sized avi file to dvd using vso converter it starts at about 28 fps, which may be slow in the first place but is at least tolerable. However, everytime, after about 30-40 minutes, the conversion rate slows to 5 fps or less. Needless to say, that is way too slow and takes way too long. If I pause the program and let my computer sit for about 10 minutes, it will resume at normal speed. But the same thing happens again, and again.

I am on a Dell Latitude D600 Laptop, not that old but not too new either. I regularly run anti-spyware, anti-virus, registry fixing, and memory boosting software and generally take good care of my computer, so I’m not sure why the CPU usage is getting maxed out (if that’s what’s causing the problem). Here is the log from a recent conversion that I had to pause only once to get through, which is way less than I usually have to pause it:

I was having the same problem (and some others) but I uninstalled it then re-installed it and it started working fine for awhile. Needless to say that I have had to do that about 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

Thanks for the advice but I had already tried that several times. The same problem also occurs with at least four other similar brands of conversion software. Does anyone have any other ideas? Here is a hijack this scan if that helps anyone who knows more than me (which isn’t much) figure out what is going wrong on my cpu:
