Well have you heard of Networking? I think someone in the household will have to learn to connect everything. It sounds like you are limited in this area too. I know where you are coming from, I also have a Daughter and two Grandkids in another city, and I'm giving my Grandkids a Laptop each. They all already have Desktops, and Networked with a Common Printer. The Laptops have Wireless capabilities, so once you set up the Wireless Router the Laptops can be connected. You also need a Printer that has Network capabilities, and connect it to the Router.
So you and your Daughter need to do some reading and learning about Networking. They will need Internet and the ISP will provide the Modem, that is connected to the Router, and the Router connects to the Computers and Printer. If none of you can do this, I'm sure you can find a good Tech, but it could cost a few pennies.
