Conmmunication failure - 1673S

Hi,

I have a problem with my 1673S drive. It works fine on one computer but when I switch it to another it gets communication failures. This can happen both when reading and writing so, for instance, if I try to install some software from CD using the drive, it just hangs.

I just tried burning some data and got the following message:

Communication failure

I was using Nero 6.6.0.13 under WinXP pro, which is identical to the other computer where it does work. The Nero Info tool tells me I have firmware JS0C. DMA is on for all channels.

I am not sure what other info I can usefully supply.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try a 80 wire cable? Read the FAQ.

What motherboard do you have.

Have you installed manufacturer drivers. Nvidia perhaps.

Use Windows native ide controller drivers.
