I did try earlier what you suggested and just had my main drive, with video card and no opticals going, and it still did it. I think the problem lies in the hard drive.
Well its not a true restart like i had originally thought. It shoots the screen black and sounds like it restarts, but when you press a button the screen comes back with post but it just goes into an infinite loop until you turn off the computer.
I listened to the hard drive while it was doing this and the sound it made was interesting. It sounds normal until the point where it would be running full speed. In other words it starts spinning up and then just shuts off, and repeats the process.
I know the ram is all good, nothing changed with it, the settings are still the same as they were.
I also tried changing out ide cables to no avail. Looks like a format is imminent. Which really sucks because i hadn't had a chance to back up.
Maybe what i'll try is putting windows on second drive, then, load into it and see if i can recover data from main drive. Then format it reinstall windows on it, and then wipe the install on the second drive.
We'll see how it goes, i'll post back with the results.
