Computer doesn't recognize DVD

Hello, my friend from Romania brought me a DVD and when I’m trying to play it in the living-room DVD player it says wrong region. The computer doesn’t recognize the DVD at all, it just sees it empty. The DVD is perfectly fine because I just checked it on a friend’s computer. I tried to change the region to 2, how it says on the DVD case (the small logo with the world map and number 2) from device manager but it still doesn’t work. I have both vista and xp and it does the same thing on both, they don’t “see” the DVD at all. All other DVDs/CDs work perfectly fine. Is there any way I could play this DVD on my computer with this optical unit? Thanks.

It came with my HP computer Pavilion Media Center m7357c.

What player do you have? Check out region free hacks for standalone players.

Nonetheless, the DVD should play in your computer, especially if you have changed the drive’s region.
