So I ordered a brand new OEM drive for the Egg, and I've been having nothing but problems with it.
The drive is the LG GH22LP20.
It's the IDE drive, and is on the Master slot.
When installed, it is recognized in Device manager.
However, when I open up My Computer, it freezes and won't show my hard drives or the Dvd-drive until I remove a disk. I tried both a DVD-r and a CD-r.
I thought the problem might be with Windows Explorer, so I opened it up in UltraISO and tried to burn an ISO image. Needless to say, it wouldn't recognize any media.
My next thought was to get newer firmware. Both the 1.02 and 1.03 firmware return an error problem.
Attached are the drivers and the firmware error.
What's the problem? Did I get a defective drive?
Is there any software that I can get to diagnose the problem?
Thanks in advance.
Edit for clarity:
Windows XP x86 SP3, AMD 6000, 4GB RAM, 8800 GTS... not sure if any of that is relevant.
The drive is the only thing on the IDE cord.
