It reflects their pricing paradigm.

Well I’m kinda stuck with them. I figure if I go anywhere else for my TV and keep the broad band I’ll still be paying close to what I am now.
The one good part is if you call to cancel or just state you think your paying to much they usually offer you better deal to stay.
Last time I did I got about 50 bucks off a month for around 6 months.
Some folks threaten to cancel and ask directly for the retentions department
and they get offered a better price to stay, sometimes they wont budge but usually if you try a few times somebody gives you a better price.
I need to call again soon and see what happens…

Well also most of the time when I see an offer from anybody else it also is a introductory rate and they bury the actual rate you’ll end up paying somewhere after the rate expires and they also seem to want to charge extra to get HD channels and the usual monthly fee for extra boxes and things so so far it hasn’t appeared to pencil out.
Until recent we also could use our own tuners and things to watch Comcast but recently they got greedy and encrypted most of the expanded basic channels.
I don’t think you could ever use your own tuner or box to watch or record any of the dish type providers.
