Used drive bought on ebay. Freshly burnt new disc from spindle. Is the drive working properly?

The same media burnt in 2014 on some LG drive. Should I be worried about media durability?

#120

The Samsung-burn looks good for this drive.

The LG-burn should not made any problems by now, but if it degraded more you should be made a copy before. How do you stre this media?

#121

LG-burn is perfectly readable in Samsung drive. I’m just worried about degradation over time. It is about 20 disks burnt on the same day in 2014. They were stored in a spindle in dry and dark place and were never touched again until a week ago. Data is photo and video archive (3rd copy) so I can burn again, but that defeats the purpose of an archive…

#122

It don´t matter what you use for archive, you will have problems after xx years with all kinds of media. HDD, SSD, USB-Flashdrive, all have it´s weaks points.

And I still have some CD-R and DVD-media which survived some HDDs and many USB-Flashdrives. And sometimes I think it´s good to have a WORM-media.
