CloneDVD always pauses with any DVD-R media

I have no problem…howwever I am curious to know why
“CloneDVD always pauses just before the write process (looking for blank media in writer) with any DVD-R media”?
CloneDVD does not do this when using any DVD+R media.
There is no pause with DVD+R, CloneDVD immediately starts the burn process.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Plextor PX-712A [v1.07] (Using as my reader)
Plextor PX-716A [v1.06] (Using as my writer)

WinXP Pro SP2

Verbatim 8x DVD-R & 8x DVD+R (4.7GB)
TDK 8x DVD+R (4.7GB)

I haven’t noticed that problem using TYG03’s or Sony08D1… BenQ 1620.

Yes, I noticed this myself with the Plextor PX-708A and PX-712A. I consider this cosmetic, as the burning starts automatically after 1-2 seconds, so I don’t care.

“cosmetic”…meaning this is a Plextor optical drive firmware issue and not with CloneDVD2?

Thanks for the feedback.

Happens on my PX-716A also. Never happened on my old NEC 2510A. I’ll have to check to see if it only happens with -R.

“Cosmetic” means that it has no influence on the result and doesn’t harm anything or anyone you know or care about.
Ignore it. Don’t worry, be happy.

How about a two second pop up everytime saying Please insert recordable media in drive E" when writing. And then taking over 30 seconds to start writing. Plextor716A also. …Of course there is already a DVD-R in drive E.
Will have to find a +R to see if related to pctech and Juggernaut’s problem.
