There seems to be a communication difference between the support department and the development office.
Yeah, the development office is usually a bit more realistic (such as if you were talking to an ingeneer developing burners, instead of the support department)...
The new laws in germany themselves are illegal, so it will probably take some time till they get really implemented.
They are illegal because they forbide some actions, without defining the punishment, which is itself not allowed here. However, it's only a matter of time till that will be fixed.

Basicly, circumventing copy protections will be illegal (even silly protections like SafeDisc 1)
Example: You buy an Un-CD which does not play on your CD players. The law does now not allow to make a working copy and keep the CD. Now, you must return the Un-CD.
This will of course decrease sales even further, but the government is not allowed to be willing to understand that.
Also, software that is made for the purpose of circumventing copy protections will also be illegal. That means, we could not buy BlindWrite or Alcohol legally, even if we wanted to.
