I have a floppy disk i need to copy for another location. It is a MS-Dos program that was created in the 1990's. The disk itself is a 3.5 inch floppy disk with 712 kb of space. (not the newer 1.44 mb)
Where my problem begins is that this floppy disk has Bad sectors on it. I know for a fact these bad sectors are the copyright protection. I know this because Origionally when I paid a guy to copy the floppy disk, he told me the copyright protection was the bad sectors, and that the program looks for the bad sectors as proof its a legit copy of the program. He made 5 copys for me. Now im down to 2, as the magnet in the floppys die. All 5 copys of the disk had the exact same bad sector (which happened to be sector 9 on side 2)
Ive tried many programs in windows xp and MS Dos such as anadisk, Norton diskedit, Magiciso, Poweriso, Floppy Image, VgaCopy, FDread, and FIRM.
I know it is possible to copy this disk as someone has done it for me before. I have contacted the person who did this for me and he told me the program he used he no longer has, and it was very very Ancient.
Ive also tried xcopy and tried booting it off the hard drive in msdos. this does not work, the program loads but says "this program is not a legit copy, please purchase the legit copy."
Although, if i put the floppy disk in the computer, and load the program off the C: drive, it works. the program goes into full function mode.
I need a program that will not only copy the files on the floppy, but also copy the bad sectors, as these are not really bad sectors and are a copy-protection scheme.
I have copied the files off the floppy and put them in a zip file here. please feel free to download and figure this out! Im Stuck!
Does anyone have any programs in mind?
Am i wasting my time trying to put it on a 1.44 mb floppy disk?
should i be looking at dos or windows programs?
